A selection of fine chronographs from Rufus Lin Designs

When you need a stopwatch function in your wristwatch

The very word speaks of precision, of ageless design, and of sub-dials with miniature hands. A chronograph is basically a watch with a stopwatch function, and can be handwound, automatic (self-winding mechanical movement) or quartz.

Of course, it is possible to purchase inexpensively a digital chronograph with a hundred and one other electronic functions. But for those who are only satisfied with expertly hand-made, luxury chronographs, look no further than this select group of precision timepieces.

It is quite a thrill to wind a watch by hand, and then use it as a stopwatch with split second accuracy. Our collection features truly luxurious chronographs; beautifully finished small masterpieces that ooze elegance while on your wrist, and yet hold their own in precise timekeeping on your sailboat or at the track.

I always find it interesting that many of our customers who purchase chronographs don't really, really need a stopwatch. It's often a matter of "just in case". Or, let's be honest, many of us are just fascinated by the complex, miniaturized, precision machinery and gadgetry of a finely made chronograph!

In this carefully selected collection of fine chronographs, the Azzaro and Rufus Gerard watches feature three sub-dials whereas the Riedenschild movements all use the same handwound mechanical movement (decorated differently for each watch), featuring two sub-dials.

All five watches have detailed, very beautiful finish quality. And yes, they work really well as stopwatches!
